Lake Orthez
Approximately 10 minutes away from Arret et Aller is Lake Orthez which has various activities on and around the lake. From april to october the sandy beach is manned by life guards with water flumes and refreshments.
A path goes around the Lake which is a very pleasant walk and includes a nature reserve surrounded by woodland, picnic areas, children play parks with plenty of places to run around and have fun. Tennis courts are there to be used as are keep fit apparatus which are positioned on the pathways as you walk around the Lake.
Fishing is very popular at the Lake where carp can be caught and day licences at the local fishing shop start at 3 euro and also sell tackle and bait. Fishing competitions are held in the nearby village of Arthez-De-Bearn and the surrounding area for any would be competitors.
Water skiing is one of the activities that is very popular on the Lake.
Lessons can be booked from the Lake side and even very young children can have a go. All this can be watched while you have a meal at the Lake restaurant where the menu is very good and prices are reasonable.
Wildlife is also in abundance on the Lake and is usually grateful for any titbits offered to them.
Lake Orthez is a lovely day out with various things to do for any age group and we thoroughly recommend a vist.
